Good meal kit, delivery slow

I ordered the South Indian Meal Kit and some Idli Dosa Batter. The ordering process on the website was pretty smooth, no issues there. It took 6 days to reach me in Seattle, which felt a bit long for food items, even if they are well-packaged. Everything arrived cold and intact, which was good. The meal kit components were fresh; the Sambar and Rasam tasted authentic, not watered down like some places. The Idli Dosa Batter worked out perfectly, made some great dosas. I had a question about reheating one of the items, and customer support replied to my email within a few hours. Overall, good quality food, but shipping could be quicker.

Delicious Payasam, so happy!

I just tried the Payasam and it was absolutely delicious! I've been looking for authentic South Indian sweets online for ages and this hit the spot. It tasted just like homemade, not too sweet and perfectly creamy. The packaging kept it fresh and cool during transit. I will definitely be ordering again, and I'm going to tell all my friends about Mylapore Express. So glad I found them!

I got the Paneer Butter Masala. It was really good. Arrived on time. Easy to reheat. Will order again.

Hey, thinking of ordering the Thali for Diwali. Any idea if they do special bundles or deals for festivals like that?

C Colin A. 1 month ago
Yeah, they usually have some pretty sweet holiday bundles. I grabbed one during Holi last year, got a good discount on a bigger order.

Definitely keep an eye out around Diwali. I think I saw them doing special stuff for Thanksgiving and Christmas too, so I'd bet on it for sure.

What if my order shows up all messed up? Like, food spilled or something during shipping. Do they have a return policy?

E Emma S. 1 month ago
Yeah, if it's damaged during shipping, they'll sort it out. You usually just need to contact them pretty quick after delivery.

Had a leaky container once, they just replaced the whole thing. Returns were super easy, customer service was helpful.

I'm thinking about trying them vs. Quicklly. Anyone got experience with both for South Indian stuff? Who's better for value?

C Cody T. 1 month ago
Mylapore Express feels more authentic for South Indian specific dishes, like the sambar and rasam. Quicklly is more general Indian.

For value, I think ME has better portion sizes for the price, especially if you get a meal kit. Quicklly can be a bit pricier for similar items.

Does anyone know if their Idli Dosa Batter is actually good? Like, comparable to homemade or local Indian store stuff?

A Anna 3 weeks ago
It's surprisingly decent! I've tried a few and theirs is pretty consistent. Makes fluffy idlis, which is always a good sign.

I'd say it's way better than most grocery store batters. Not quite my grandma's, but a solid second best when I'm too lazy to grind my own.

Are the meal kits fully cooked or do you have to do a lot of prep? Like, how much work is it really?

N Nina Carter 1 month ago
Most of the main dishes are fully cooked, you just need to reheat. For the batters or some mixes, you'd obviously cook those fresh.

It's mostly heat and eat. The curries and gravies are good to go, no real 'cooking' required unless it's a batter product.
